My Life in Denver: Week 3

June 16, 2016 by missoliviasays12@gmail.com 11 Comments

It feels like I haven’t done a blog post in forever… which is partly true. Before I moved out to Denver, I scheduled two weeks worth of posts so I had time to settle in and adjust to my new life. I am trying my hardest to get into a routine, but it was been quite difficult with work. I started my full time (grown-up) job last week and it is LONGGGG hours. My first week I put in around 53 hours and after tomorrow I will have done a little over 50 for this week. With long hours, it makes it hard to create content for my blog so I am guessing it will take a couple more weeks to get the hang of things. I’ve been having the time of my life but I have also been so busy so bear with me!! Below I wanted to give you all a Cliff Notes version of what has been going on lately:

What to do in Denver

Werkkkk:

Clearly, work has taken up a huge portion of my time. It is what is expected as a 21 year old recent graduate who has to find a way to afford her apartment and food. In all honesty though, I have been loving my job regardless of the long hours. On my first day everyone was so nice and supportive and since, I have enjoyed the challenge!

Roommate:

If you didn’t know already, I found my roomie on good ol’ Craigslist. I was so nervous about living with a random person, but my new roomie and I get along so great and we have became good friends. I definitely think I lucked out because I hear horror roommate stories all the time and I am thankful I was able to find the girl I am living with!

Boyfriend:

For those of you who don’t know, I have actually been dating a guy who lives in Denver for (officially) a little over a month now. He lives sooooo close to my apartment and by sooooo close I mean next door in the condos. It was a coincidence I SWEAR! But it makes the commute to each other’s place quite bearable. My first Saturday here, we went to his college friend’s wedding in Northern Colorado, which was a great little getaway!

Social Life:

Even though I am working long hours, I still want to embrace my big city and be spontaneous while I am still young. Last Thursday, my roomie and I decided last minute we were going to go out and we actually met a great group of people at the Viewhouse in Downtown Denver! I will definitely be doing a what to do in Denver post shortly because I already have so many fun ideas and it has only been 3 weeks!

Apartment:

My roomie and I lucked out with our apartment. We ended up right on the outside of downtown. about a $5 Uber ride to the heart of downtown or a 15 minute walk. At first I wanted to live a little closer to where I work in South Denver, but I am glad that we ended up where we did because we have amazing views and are so close to everything. You can even see the Broncos stadium from out patio! Apartment tour post to come!! Clearly I have a ton of great content coming for you guys, I just have to schedule time to put it together!

Absolutely love Denver! We have only been in winter for skiing, but it looks like it would be a great place to visit in spring/summer too!

Ah, sounds like a great time and a big adjustment too! I’m still doing an internship in Austin but working long hours, so I understand that feeling of exhaustion but still wanting to explore because the city is so new and we’re young!! Congratulations on everything!!

I was in Denver for my spring break this past year and absolutely loved every minute of it. The mountains, the outdoor activities, the atmosphere. I fell in love with all of it!

Yay so exciting! I’d love to hear more about what you do at your day job. I always am interested to know what others do full time.
